After 20 wonderful years as bookbinders in Northampton, MA, Bill and Elaine Streeter have retired to South Deerfield, MA. They are spending time enjoying their young grandchildren and catching up on their many projects, and we wish them happiness and success in their new adventures.

In December of 2004, I became the new owner of The Silver Maple Bindery and moved the bindery to Greenfield, MA, where my associate Val Moss and I continue to work together. Although the bindery is under new ownership, very little has changed. I have worked in the bindery for 8 years and Val has worked in the bindery for 5 years. We strive to continue the same high-quality work and excellent customer service that was Bill Streeter's pride. Thank you for your continued support and patronage!

At the Silver Maple Bindery, we specialize in restoration work on a wide variety of cloth, leather, and paper-bound books, as well as custom binding and design work for items such as drop-spine (clamshell) boxes, folders, slipcases, albums, dissertations, and one-of-a-kind books. Our work is carefully hand-crafted, using archival-quality materials, to assure sound structure and good function over time. In restoration work, it is our policy to save as much of the original binding as possible, and to match any repairs to the period detail of the book

Over the years, our shop has built a reputation for serving a wide variety of customers at reasonable prices. Our clients include book dealers and collectors, towns, universities, and religious institutions, and individuals with items of sentimental or historical value, such as family Bibles, genealogies, photograph albums, and children's books.

We provide estimates to all customers at no charge. Finished work can be picked up in person, or shipped back to you via UPS, FedEx or US Mail.
